It is important to us that arrangements between Yatton Books & Prints and our customers are lawful, fair and transparent.  To support this, our policy regarding the collection and housing of personal data is set out below.  Please be assured that this has been reviewed to be in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 (ICO registration number: ZA366915).

The personal data we collect will be used to support the physical delivery of goods purchased by you from Yatton Books & Prints. This data is likely to be simply your name and address, your telephone number in case there is a problem, and your email address so we can confirm despatch.  Sometimes your telephone number and email address are requested by our couriers to help them locate the delivery address or so that they can keep you informed by text or email of the progress of the delivery.  A record of your purchase is held securely on our database, likewise any emails relating to the sale.  We do not share this information with any third party unless compelled to do so for legal reasons.  We believe this purpose falls under the “legitimate interests” part of the regulations. No personal data categorised by the regulation as “special” is collected.

Be assured that if you pay for your goods over the telephone, details of your payment method will be used simply for the specific one time financial transaction.  These details are not retained and are disposed of as “secure waste”, facilities for which are in place in both the shop and the office.  For sales conducted through third parties e.g. Amazon or ABEbooks the financial transaction is handled by that third party and not shared with Yatton Books & Prints.

Our website is housed on a third party’s server and, whilst maintained by that third party, is solely for the use of Yatton Books & Prints.  We use a single-session cookie if you use any of the “contact us” type options which is simply used to check you are not a robot.  Our database is securely housed in-house and, whilst again maintained by a third party, is solely for the use of Yatton Books & Prints.  All data backups are also housed securely and used simply for the maintenance of the computer system.

Whilst we are always happy to hear from you and will obviously respond to your enquiries, it is not our policy to undertake unsolicited contact with you for marketing purposes and have, hence, not sought your consent to the use of your personal data for this purpose.

If you would like to keep in touch, we do have a FaceBook page where you can see our news by “liking” our page.  We do not download any personal data from FaceBook and, as per the regulation, “unliking” is as easy as “liking”.  Contact with Yatton Books & Prints via FaceBook is subject to FaceBook’s own GDPR compliance.
