Regular price £295.00 GBP inc. VAT
Evelyn Arthur Smythies was himself a shikari and worked in the Indian Forest Service to Nepal for over 30 years. He was Chief Conservator of the Forest of Nepal from 1940 through 1947 during which time he had access to the shikar diaries of the Maharaja. Green cloth boards with black lettering to spine and front. Boards are a little marked and generally grubby. Corners bumped and worn. Board edges are grubby and rubbed. Spine is marked with some bumping to the ends. Some foxing to endpages. Front inner hinge is cracked, but holding. Coloured frontispiece showing 'His Highness the Marharaja on Horseback'. Textblock has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean. 174 pp. 43 plates inc frontis (12 in colour). 2 coloured pullouts. There is another pullout tucked in at the rear but I cannot establish whether or not it should be part of the volume. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 850g.(YBP Ref: 011034:?)
