First volume of 12, originally published as 12 weekly, then monthly, parts to give a total of 476 pages. Pages 1-179 complete Aesop's fables, pages 181-193 fables of Barlandus, pages 195-216 fables of Anianus. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Boards are marked with some stains. Corners bumped and worn. Wear to board edges and especially along the spine edges where the cloth is splitting. Spine is bumped to bottom, with stains. All edges gilt. Coloured endpages, with previous owner's inscription to FFEP. Front inner hinge is starting to crack. B/w frontispiece. Textblock is mostly clean, but there is foxing to front and back pages. 216 pp. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 973g. (YBP Ref: 022111:1-M11)
