Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Highly decorated with gilt, black and red to the front and with blindstamping to the rear. Boards are generally in good order, just a little grubby. Slight bumping to corners. Board edges are grubby and rubbed. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends. Inner hinge is weak. Textblock has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean. 292 pp. Some b/w illustration. Presentation label from the Juvenile Missionary Society dated 1877. Part one has three chapters dealing with 'the mammalia', 'the birds=aves', and 'reptiles and fishes'. Part two has chapters for 'the mollusca', 'the articulata, or jointed animals' and 'the radiata and protozoa'. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 485g.(YBP Ref: 010631:1-C3)
