A scarce and very unusual copy. Professionally rebound in quarter calf, cloth sides, new handmade end papers. Blind spine with many cuttings and photos relating to Shakespeare added throughout, making this a unique copy, added circa late 19th century. Red spine label with gilt lettering. Rages are rough cut. Internally tight, and generally clean save for a few minor marks to early pages. 76 illustrations. Contains occasional marks of its previous life with Stoke Newington Public Libraries. James Orchard Halliwell (21 June 1820 � 3 January 1889), was an English Shakespearean scholar, and a collector of English Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. According to his obituary, tipped in to early blank, he greatly assisted in the purchase for Stratford-on-Avon of New Place, formerly Shakespeare's estate, and for the establishment of the Shakespeare Museum in that town.
