William Gordon Stables was born in Banffshire (now part of Aberdeenshire). After studying medicine at the University of Aberdeen, he served as a surgeon in the Royal Navy. He came ashore in 1875, and settled in Berkshire. He died in 1910. Scarce. Pictoral card boards with orange lettering to front. Boards are very worn but still serviceable. Corners bumped and worn. Spine covering missing altogether. Endpages are a rather grubby with a newspaper cutting tipped in to ffep. Both inner hinges are cracked, but holding. Some annotations to the title page and contents page. Textblock is foxed, especially to the early/late pages. 191 pp + adverts. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 215g.
