Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Top edge gilt. Boards are marked and generally very grubby. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine has been repaired at some stage with the original spine relaid. B/w frontispiece with tissue protection intact. Binding is quite loose. All illustrations present as called for for but one plate is detached. (41 Portraits/Coloured Plates, 16 Maps/Plans) Occasional mild foxing. Additional photos are available upon request.
