Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Boards are marked and generally grubby with the remains of a sticker. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends. Endpages are a little discoloured. Title page is inscribed 'To my friend and Colleague Viscount Dawson of Penn with best wishes, deepest gratitude and the greatest admiration' and signed by the author.
