An early variant of a classic book. Brown leather boards with gilt lettering to spine. All edges gilt. Boards are unevenly faded and a bit scraped. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine is faded and rubbed with a small loss to the top where the leather has been damaged. Textblock has some fox and some water stains mainly affecting the plates where the paper is different. 624 pp. Previous owner's bookplate. Additional photos are available upon request.
