Full title: An Account of the Natives of the Tonga Islands, in the South Pacific Ocean with an Original Grammar and Vocabulary of their Language, Compiled and Arranged from the Extensive Communications of Mr William Mariner, Several Years Resident in those Islands. This is the third edition which declares itself 'considerably improved'. These volumes form part of Constable's Miscellany, numbers 13 and 14. Both volumes similarly bound. Rebound into brown half leather and marbled paper boards with gilt lettering to spine. Marbled page edges. Boards are rather worn but still serviceable. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Both spines have had library stickers sellotaped to them, one remains. The front inner hinge is cracked on volume one. Some foxing. Contains the usual marks of ex-library copies.
