Full title reads 'Through the Air: A Narrative of Forty Years' Experience as an Aeronaut Comprising a History of the Various Attempts in the Art of Flying by Artificial Means from the Earliest Period Down to the Present Time'. Brown decorated cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Boards are generally in good order, just shelfwear. Corners are bumped and worn through. Board edges are worn. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends; a couple of nicks to the cloth. Ffep has been torn out; likewise half title page. Front inner hinge is cracked, but holding. Colour frontispiece with tissue protection. Textblock has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean. One plate is missing (The Brothers Montgolfier/Blanchard). One other plate has a small hole (All were Displayed in Gorgeous Grandeur). Occasional mild foxing. 650 pp. Additional photos are available upon request.
