Scarce. With a laid-in dedication to Lady Hamilton with kind regards from Jessie M E Saxby, May 1935. This taken from 'Tales from Wullver's Hool' by Philip Snow 'The Lady Hamilton' was Lady Gertrude Hamilton, wife of Sir Robert Hamilton, MP for Orkney & Shetland (1922-35). The Hamiltons were honoured guests among a group of dignitaries who visited Jessie at her home, Wullver's Hool, Unst, on 30th June 1932, Jessie's 90th birthday. Sir Robert presented Jessie with an illuminated address and a sum of money, some of which Jessie spent building a war memorial on the hill above her house. 'Threads from a Tangled Skein' is a collection of poems and essays published in 1934, from Jessie's long writing career. This, her last published book, includes a photo of the war memorial Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Boards are generally in good order, just a little shelfwear. Some bumping to corners. Spine has a little bumping to ends. Laid-in dedication to ffep. Textblock is in a good, clean condition. 375 pp. Additional photos are available upon request.
