INCOMPLETE - lacks half title pp vi, vii & viii of Translator's Preface. From the third French edition by Charles S Cheltnam. Red decorated cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. All edges gilt. Has been rebacked at some stage with the original spine relaid and new endpapers. Boards are marked and generally a bit grubby. Corners are bumped, edges are bumped and worn. Spine, including lettering, is faded with bumping to ends. Textblock is cracked prior to contents, hence the loss. Previous owner's mark. Textblock is in a good, clean condition. Bookplate from Kenn Back (1942-, Meteorologist for the British Antarctic Survey and descendant of the Arctic explorer Captain George Back) 375 pp. Additional photos are available upon request.
