Scarce. Early 1st edition, dated 1914, as there is an inscription dated Xmas 1913 to the FFEP. Red decorated cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Boards are marked and generally a little grubby. Corners are bumped, edges are worn. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends. Foxing to the page edges and just the odd spot internally. Age discolouration to endpages. The binding on the textblock is rather loose, the bundles are separating but still well held. B/w frontispiece with tissue protection intact if a little puckered and foxed. 354 pp + adverts. Previous owner's mark to ffep. Part of the Heroes of World Library Series.
